ABOUT US
WELLESLEY DENTAL ARTS CENTER
Wellesley Dental Arts Center was formed in 2004 by combining the
practices of Dr. Paul Chalifoux and Dr. Robert Feingold both having
practices in Wellesley. Combining practices enhanced emergency
coverage, overall quality of dentistry and patient convenience.
Wellesley Dental Arts Center is located at 277 Linden Street in
Wellesley, just above Sovereign Bank and Dunkin Donuts.
Paul R. Chalifoux, DDS
I grew
up loving mathematics and science, however; I could not find
professions in mathematics that appealed to me. Breaking my
teeth playing football in high school exposed me to dentistry.
I enjoyed the professional approach of my dentist, how he worked
artistically with his hands and the scientific knowledge dentistry
required. My high school yearbook read: "Ambition:
Dentist".
I
attended Assumption College knowing they had a great reputation for
getting students into dental schools. After three years, I
applied early and was accepted at Georgetown Dental School.
Assumption counted my freshman year of dental school as my senior
year at a Assumption which allowed me to graduate.
Dental
school was expensive so I applied and was accepted for a Health
Scholarship from congress. In return for each year they paid
for and the $334.07 a month I lived on, I owed them a year as a
dentist in the army.
Three
years of service at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii gave me fifteen
years of experience. Fifteen dentists treated twenty thousand
troops. Because specialists could not handle all the work,
general dentists received three month specialty training in each
specialty including crowns, bridges, dentures, oral surgery, root
canals and gum disease.
After one year in South Korea and a
year at Fort Devens in Massachusetts, I worked for a specialist in
Crown and Bridge for two years. Ultimately buying a practice
from Dr. Charles Pollina, one of the true gentlemen of dentistry.
Through the years I have enjoyed my passion for dentistry inventing,
publishing, editing for national magazines, designing websites and
lecturing. However, it is performing the art of dentistry and
developing relationships with patients as if they are my friend that
I love most.
Robert M. Feingold, DMD
Dr. Feingold excelled at Tufts
undergraduate and Tufts Dental School, ultimately teaching at
Harvard Dental School for 17 years. He has done advanced training in
restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, implant dentistry,
aesthetics, crown and bridge, and dental materials.

Our three friendly front desk staff members are here to answer any
questions or concerns you may have and help make your visit a "family"
experience. If you have a problem or an inquiry, they can help you at
the time of your appointment or over the phone anytime during our business
hours. Their duties include computer scheduling of appointments,
sending insurance claims, billing, and recalling. The front desk staff also
assists developing marketing materials, brochures, mailings and other facets
of the office communications. They also handle financial arrangements.
Answers to your questions or help is never more than a phone cal away.
Dental Assistants: Karen, Flavia, and
Our office retains
three certified trained dental assistants. They assist our dentist at
the dental chair so procedures are done in a timely and efficient manner
while maintaining a high quality of care. Our assistants are also
responsible sterilization of the dental operatory and instruments, as well
as ordering supplies, taking x ray, pouring models, taking impressions,
helping create temporary crowns, producing study models and making bleaching
trays. In the lab, our dental assistants pack cases to be sent to
dental laboratories and unpack cases that come in. Their primary
concern, however, is to be sure you are comfortable and cared for during
dental procedures.
Dental Hygienists:
Shirin, Janyce, and Anna
We have
three excellent licensed dental hygienists. They are responsible for
cleaning teeth, teaching preventative procedures, x rays, maintenance and
sterilization of prophylaxis instruments, and identifying suspicious areas
in the mouth. They perform advanced procedures related to gum disease,
including administering local antibiotics, root planing, and curettage in
the hopes of avoiding more invasive treatments such as gum surgery.
Our dental hygienists are licensed after advanced training and examination
to administer local anesthetic, such as novocaine, to aid in treatment when
required. Our hygienists also create records of our patients with
detailed written records, x rays, and photographs. Hygienists do
sealants.
